It was a busy holiday weekend for the Starters Club Softball Program as four of our club teams were competing in Martin Luther King Jr. Dome Ball Tournaments around the Twin Cities! For most of our teams, this tournament was serving as a nice little warm up for their high school seasons as well as a chance to build their team chemistry before the busy summer club season! For our 12U Little Leaguers, this served as their second to last tournament with their season officially finishing up on President's Day. Starters Sports Training and Starters Baseball are excited and proud to announce that our 17U National Summer Team will now become the 2020 Midwest Mariners Scout Team! This is an exciting partnership for Starters Baseball and all of the kids that train with us now and in the future in our facility.
Starters is proud to announce that Tori Finucane, our Assistant Director of Softball and Pitching Coach, has officially accepted the position as the Pitching Coach for the University of Maryland Softball Program. While we are sad to lose a strong asset in Tori, we are pleased that this is consistent with and an acknowledgment of the goals of the organization to develop the highest caliber coaches that are capable of coaching at any and every level of the game.
Starters has always prided itself on the high level of instruction and coaching we recruit for our clients. This focus on quality and leadership has been reinforced in recent months with the honor of having not one, but two, instructors selected to fill coaching positions at notable Division I programs.
Starters is proud to announce that, for the second straight year, we have the honor and privilege to offer a Bat Demo Day and Open House to all of our families! This event gives attendees the opportunity to interact with a variety of vendors in the Baseball and Softball worlds while also having the chance to try out brand new bats for FREE! We had a truly stellar turnout for the first annual Bat Demo Day last year and are looking to offer an even better experience this year with a handful of vendors including:
Starters Sports Training is pleased to announce a long-term strategic alliance with Jim Brower and Brower Baseball! This alliance will allow both Starters and Brower Baseball to grow and expand their collective arm programs.
Jim will join the Starters board and will be a senior advisor in the development of arm strength, arm care and overall pitching programing. This will translate into a number of programs produced by Starters in which Jim will help instruct, guide the instructional staff and provide individual player feedback and analysis.
It was an absolutely beautiful fall weekend for league play after a miserable week of rain that saw practices moved inside. There were quite a few very impressive individual performances this weekend to help lead Starters' teams to victories as well as absolute domination by one of our teams! It was a busy and war weekend for our Starters fall teams. Although we saw a few tuogh losses, we also saw ome very impressive performances out of some of our teams. Another awesome weekend of games for the Ladies of Starters Softball! A cornicopia of impressive performances to highlight including phenomenal pitching performances across all levels, probably more runs scored than in the last four World Series combined, and a couple of homeruns that made fans want to exchange their headwear for hard hats! What an amazing weekend it was for the Starters softball family with a return to league play after a hiatus over Labor Day weekend! Our softball teams saw some highs and lows over the weekend, and we were even blessed with a budding new rivalry emerging between two of our teams! Keep reading for more information!
Former University of Minnesota Golden Gopher softball player Sydney Dwyer and former University of Wisconsin-Madison softball player Chloe Miller join the starters softball staff for the 2018-2019 club softball season!
Josh hails from Burnsville, MN where he was an All-Conference performer for the Blaze. After high school he went on to start for four years at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Josh served a volunteer assistant for the Bulldogs and Head Coach Bob Rients in the fall of 2011.
Lincoln hails from Cannon Falls, MN and attended St. Croix Lutheran Academy where he graduated in 2013. Lincoln stayed very busy in high school playing football, basketball, and baseball receiving all-conference honors in all three and getting an all-section nod for baseball on top of that.
The Starters Performance staff is proud to welcome in five interns for the summer months. They will be great additions to the weight room and performance classes. They each bring in their own experiences and value to create a positive learning environment for every athlete participating in the Starters Performance program. The Starters team is very pleased to announce the new addition to the Baseball staff, Kyle Dalton! He will be a valued member to this department as he tackles the Junior Coordinator role, which focuses on the 12u and under player age groups. Kyle is also no stranger to the Starters community! He initially began with Starters as a part-time instructor, and shows great enthusiasm transitioning to his full-time Starters position.
The Starters Staff is incredibly excited to announce a new addition to the performance department! Nate Trelstad joins us as a Performance Coordinator with focuses in sport specific weight training, along with speed and agility.
