It was another successful weekend overall for the ladies of the Starters Softball Club going a combined 9-4 across the five teams. Many of the games were highlighted by offensive explosions and a few very dominant pitching performances! Keep reading to find out who all the standout performers were!
Starters 16U Smyth
It was a long Sunday for the 16U Smyth ladies who battled through three games in the beautiful fall sun! Game one saw a Starters victory over the MN Whirl 5-4 with standout performances from Ashley Jahraus (4 IP, 2ER, 6 Ks) as well as Anna Kelly and Meg May pacing the offense with 2 RBIs a piece. Game two brought heartbreak to the ladies of 16U Smyth who lost the lead late in the game on the way to dropping their first game of the fall to the SE Flyers 4-3. Emma Eickhoff was absolutely dominant on the mound posting a very impressive 5 IP, 0 ER, 3H, 8 Ks pitching line. Reese Holzhueter highlighted the offense with a Triple, an RBI, and a run scored! The day would ultimately end on another sour note as the 16U Smyth team would drop their second game of the day to the Lady Canes 5-2. Medora Rylee got the offense started early with a 2 RBI double in the first inning, but, ultimately, the Starters ladies wouldn’t be able to hold the lead. Overall, the ladies hit very well tallying 18 hits on the day!
Starters 16U Dwyer
It was a truly spectacular Sunday for the Starters 16U Dwyer ladies who not only had a Sunday sweep, but did so in truly impressive fashion winning all FOUR of their games on Sunday! Game one saw Starters rack up 14 hits on the way to a 10-3 victory. They kept the bats hot in game two by adding another 14 hits to the tally for the day while winning game two by a score of 12-3. The ladies were riding high heading into game three and must have felt like they were running on air, stealing 6 bases while winning 6-3. The day was finished off in truly impressive fashion with a 10-6 victory in game four to seal the sweep and bring out the brooms! Hats off Ladies!
Starters 14U O'Connor
Swept the weekend. We beat Arctic Blast 13-0, Wallace didn’t allow a run while striking out 6. Elika Veng, Mya Karrick, and Brooke Danna all had two RBIs. Game two saw Starters defeat Orono 13-1. Starters 14U Miller
Swept the weekend. In game one the good guys won 13-1 stringing together 15 hits and having 5 different players recording an extra base hit. Abby Dalchow was snubbed by SportCenter on the Top 10 Plays after her diving catch in the field. Game two saw a fundamentally sound performance by the ladies of 14U Miller who clocked in, did their work, and clocked out on the way to an 8-2 victory!
Starters 14U Prep
It was a difficult first game for the ladies of 14U Prep dropping the first game 19-1 to the Southwest Wildcats. It was a game to forget and move on from to say the least. Game two saw a rejuvenated effort from the 14U Prep team. The 14U White-Gabler Whirl team took an early lead in the first before the good girls would answer back with a Tatum Larson RBI-single to tie it up. The 14U Whirl team would take the lead back in the second inning and not look bad as the second game would finish with a second loss on the day 4-2.
