Ryan Schwertman I General Manager
Ryan graduated from Lakeville High School in 2000. After high school, Ryan attended Minnesota State University, Mankato before transferring to the University of Northwestern, where he finished his final two years as the Eagles' third basemen. Ryan has 15 years of coaching experience at the Youth, High School, Legion, Club, and Collegiate levels, including three years as head coach at Prior Lake High School from 2009-2013. Currently, Ryan is working as a recruitment advisor with Elite Sports Advising and as an Associate Scout with the Cincinnati Reds. Ryan and his wife Kerrie live in Shakopee with their three children: Addison, Jack, & Andrew.
Kevin Nagel I senior director of accounting & Operations
Kevin graduated from Minneapolis Washburn in 2001 (All-Conference). He played one season at Bemidji State before an injury shortened his playing career . After playing, Kevin started coaching high school at Minneapolis Washburn. He spent 9 years at Washburn as both a head and assistant coach within the program. In addition, Kevin spent 8 season as a Summer Head coach within the Eagan Program (3 seasons with Senior Babe Ruth & 5 seasons with Legion). In 2013, Kevin joined the Prior Lake Coaching staff as a JV & Legion coach and holds both positions to this day. Currently, Kevin reside in Minneapolis with wife (Brittany) and two children (Brynn & Sullivan).
Neal Kunik I Director of Marketing
Neal played college baseball for the University of Minnesota from 2014-15. Neal started his college career as a relief pitcher before ascending to the starting rotation mid-way through his first season earning him Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors after his second collegiate start against Penn State (4/26/14) - throwing 7 scoreless inning with 9 strikeouts. Neal's senior season for the Gophers was cut short due to an arm injury requiring Tommy John Surgery. After a recovering form Tommy John, Neal played his first professional season for the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers of the USPBL in MIchigan, where he had a successful season as a relief pitcher resulting in being name an All-Star. Neal played last season with the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association, where he had a short successful stint resulting in a chance to continue his playing career with the Canaries next summer.
Bryan Johns I Instructor & Special Assignments
Bryan is a Texas native, who went to Allen High School where he played both football and baseball. He attended Howard Junior College in 2009 where he won the Junior College National Championship with a record setting season going 63-1. After Howard, he attended Vanderbilt University where he hit .370 as a Junior and played in the College World Series as a Senior. After graduating in 2011 with academic honors, he signed to play in the Boston Red Sox Organization. He played with them from 2011-14, playing up to AA with the Portland Sea Dogs. Bryan played for the Garden State Grays of the Canadian-American League in 2015, where he hit .320, and is continuing to further his baseball career.
Joe Loftus I Director of Club Baseball
Joe graduated from the Academy of Holy Angles in 2008. Joe hit 25 career home runs at Holy Angels, breaking current Minnesota Twins' catcher Joe Mauer's state record of 21. After being drafted in the 29th round by the Minnesota Twins, Joe opted to attend Vanderbilt University where he helped the Commodores to a World Series appearance in 2011 before being drafted again in the 46th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Joe played professional baseball with the Diamondbacks from 2011-2013. Joe completed his degree from Vanderbilt University during his off seasons with the Diamondbacks and was an SEC academic honor-roll student.
CORY GLIEDEN I Director of Club Baseball
Cory is a 2008 graduate from Chaska High School where he was selected to the All-State team and also participated in the Lion's All-Star Series and won MVP. He attended the University of Iowa for two years before transferring to Minnesota State University, Mankato. He helped the team make back to back DII World Series appearances finishing third and runner up. Cory also attended Augustana University where he was the Graduate Assistant Baseball Coach, under Tim Huber, from 2014-2016. In the spring of 2016, he helped coach all four infield positions to earning Gold Glove awards.
Bret Mitchell I Director of Arm Development
Bret graduated from Lakeville North in 2007. He played baseball at Iowa Central from 08-09. At Iowa Central, he posted a 2.70 ERA with 71 strikeouts and 61 innings. He went 6-3 with five complete games and two shutouts. He was named First-Team All-Region. Bret transferred to Minnesota State-Mankato in 2010 and got drafted in the 12th round to the New York Mets where he spent five years with their organization. In his minors career he posted a 3.25 ERA in 86 games. He had 11 saves and he pitched a total of 183 innings and was Pitcher of the Year in 2011. Currently Bret is the pitching coach at the University of St. Thomas.
JD Dorgan I Programs Director
JD graduated from Eagan High School in 2010 where he was a two-time All State Honorable Mention football player and two-time First Team All-State baseball player. After high school, JD attended the University of Saint Thomas where he was a 4 year starter, 3X Gold Glove recipient, 3X All Conference performer, 3X All Region, and an All American. JD played 3 years in the Northwoods summer league where he won the Gold Glove award as a catcher. After college, JD played parts of 3 seasons in the Frontier League for the Joliet Slammers & the Evansville Otters. JD coached Eagan's Junior Varsity team in 2017 and was the Head Legion coach for Eagan later that summer.
Sam Macken I Director of Softball
Sam attended Rochester Lourdes High School where she graduated in 2013. A Minnesota native, she attended the University of Minnesota, Twins Cities, where she lettered four years and started both infield and outfield. She was awarded 3 Academic All B1G Ten Honors, was a 2-Time Distinguished Scholar, received both 1st and 2nd Team All B1G Ten honors and was a 2-Time NFCA All-Region selection. Her freshman year she sealed the Gophers 1st B1G Ten championship in 15 years with a walk off hit and was instrumental in helping the Gophers to their first ever Super Regional with a go-ahead home run against Auburn in the NCAA Regional final. Sam helped lead the Gophers to 3 B1G Ten Championships, 4 NCAA Tournaments and a Super Regional in her 4-year career. She ended her career ranked 2nd All-Time in runs scored and 4th All-Time in doubles. Her career batting average was 0.339. In her senior season she was awarded the B1G Ten Sportsmanship Award and was a Top-30 Finalist for the Senior CLASS Award. The Gophers won over 190 games in her 4-year career and establish the winningest season ever in 2017 going 56-5. Sam graduated in 2017 with a degree in Business Marketing and a minor in Sports Management.
Tori Finucane I Assistant Softball Director
Tori, a Maryland native and 2013 graduate of Bishop O’Connell High School (VA), is a two-time NFCA First Team High School All-American. Her high school career also included back-to-back Gatorade Virginia Softball Player of the Year awards in 2012 and 2013. Her college career began at the University of Missouri, where as a freshman in the Southeastern Conference, compiled a 21-6 record with a 1.73 ERA. Also during her freshman season, she won SEC Pitcher of the week and NFCA National Player of the Week after going 2-0 on the road against the #3 ranked team in the country, the Florida Gators, including a 10-strikeout performance to clinch the series. Additional recognition during her freshman season included being named the 2014 SEC Freshman of the Year, 1st Team All-SEC, SEC All Freshman Team, and NFCA National Freshman of the Year Top 10 Finalist. As a sophomore, Tori compiled a 21-8 record and was named Second Team All-SEC. After a junior season that was limited due to injuries, Tori completed her final year of eligibility at the University of Minnesota. In her lone season with the Gophers, the team set numerous school records, including a #1 ranking in the NFCA/USA Today Coaches Poll and a 56-5 record for the season.
Ian McPherson- Director of Performance
Ian is a 2006 graduate of Maple Grove Senior High where he was a three sport athlete (football, baseball, track)/ Ian continued his football and track careers at the University of St. Thomas and was a part of the football program's profound turnaround from a 2-8 sophomore season to an 11-2 senior season and their first playoff berth since 1990. Ian graduated in 2010 with a Marketing & Economics degree. After graduation, Ian continued his football career playing three years of amateur football for the Minnesota Sting. Ian finished his football career playing a one-game contract in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Outside of his amateur football career, Ian has worked various roles in corporate finance, operations and supply chain since graduation and has decided to change direction entirely. He plans to transition full-time into performance training and coaching high school football. He currently coaches the Shakopee High School Freshman Football team. AS a part of his transition he is currently completing his education to become a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and is on pace for completion in Fall of 2016.
